Why choose Eneco?

The world in which we live is constantly changing. As a driving force in the energy transition, Eneco is the first to deal with new sustainable energy sources and new ways of energy storage and management. At the same time, our customers are also changing rapidly. To excel in this dynamic environment, we need to transform ourselves and the way we manage all energy flows. You are going to work at a company large enough to get things done and diverse in its people and asset base, within an innovative team that has the flexibility to rival a start-up. Our organization is open and brimming with energy. At Eneco, anyone with a sharp mind and a positive and active mindset can contribute to a more sustainable world.

Within Eneco's international trading department, Eneco Energy Trading (EET), we want to be a top player in the Northern European energy market in the field of delivering flexibility and grid stabilization by using sustainable energy. The domain Operations & IT is essential for this due to the strong growth of sustainable energy sources in our portfolio. The team Account Support is responsible for the correct and complete financial settlement of all activities within trade.

What you’ll do

As a Settlement Specialist, you're responsible for the accurate and timely financial settlement of energy trading activities, a critical part of our daily operations.

  • You combine strong operational focus with the ability to identify inefficiencies and push for smarter, more automated solutions. Your role bridges multiple teams: you understand the commercial drivers behind deals, but also how to translate those into correct settlement flows.
  • You’ll be the go-to expert on settlement processes, from solving exceptions to shaping tomorrow’s platform by working closely with IT and business teams. With technologies like RPA and automation on the horizon, your input helps future-proof our operations.
  • You’ll also help improve the team’s way of working step by step, simplifying, standardising and documenting processes that make us stronger and more scalable.
  • You’ll join a close-knit team of 7 professionals who also manage contract administration. Together, you keep our trading engine running smoothly.

Is this about you?

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with a financial, operational, or technical focus
  • At least 2 years of experience in the energy sector with solid knowledge of trade, dispatch, and settlement flows
  • Strong analytical mindset — quick to understand complexity and translate it into clear solutions
  • Advanced Excel skills and confidence in working with large datasets and formulas
  • Experience juggling daily operations with longer-term improvements and automation projects
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken); Dutch is a big plus
  • Self-starting, structured, proactive, and comfortable navigating a fast-paced environment

You’ll be responsible for

  • Ensuring accurate and timely financial settlement for all trades
  • Identifying and implementing operational improvements and automation opportunities
  • Contributing to the design of a scalable, future-proof settlement process
  • Acting as a key point of contact for traders, operators, developers, contract managers, TSOs and external partners
  • Supporting business continuity as a backup for other team members

This is where you’ll work

Working at Eneco means working at a sustainable company where we strive for a new world. A world that is smarter, better, cleaner, more fun and more livable. We do this together with more than 3,000 colleagues, according to 'the new way of working', in a beautiful modern building: Eneco World. And we work from the values Customer first, Together and Trust & Responsibility. Eneco World is easily accessible: a two-minute walk from Rotterdam Alexander metro and train station.

You will be part of the Eneco Energy Trading (EET) department and work in a dynamic trading environment. With a diverse team of more than a hundred highly educated employees, we are working on an optimal market vision that supports Eneco's sustainability objectives. EET forms a busy, sometimes hectic working environment that requires a lot of personal initiative and insight. We quickly switch with each other in an informal, collegial atmosphere. Within EET, the commercial, operation and IT teams work closely together to deliver our ambitions. You shape the energy transition yourselves. This is a rewarding but challenging task.
