The Portfolio Management team within Eneco Energy Trade is responsible for optimizing financial results, mitigating long-term risks and thereby contributing to the energy transition.

What you’ll do

As a Portfolio Analyst within the Central Portfolio Management team at Eneco Energy Trade, you will focus on quantifying and managing portfolio risks across power and gas. You will play a key role in strengthening our portfolio insights by developing models and translating outcomes into pragmatic risk mitigation actions together with portfolio managers.

 

This role offers a unique opportunity to combine quantitative modelling with real-world decision-making in a fast-paced and evolving market. You will work in a collaborative environment, closely connecting:

  • Strategic Portfolio Management (model development)
  • Portfolio Managers (risk steering & execution)

Is this about you?

You are a high-potential junior profile with strong analytical capabilities and a pragmatic mindset. You enjoy working with data, but also understand that decisions in a trading environment require speed and clarity.

 

You bring:

  • 0–3 years of experience, or a recent graduate with strong quantitative background
  • Academic degree in e.g. Econometrics, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or similar
  • Strong quantitative and modelling skills (Python or similar)
  • Ability to translate analysis into practical insights and decisions
  • A proactive and curious mindset, eager to learn in a steep learning curve
  • Strong collaboration skills and willingness to work across teams
  • Interest in energy markets and portfolio optimization

You’ll be responsible for

You will contribute to Eneco’s portfolio optimization by:

  1. Risk modelling & analytics
  • Develop and maintain models to quantify portfolio risks (price, weather)
  • Support the development of an integral portfolio model together with Strategic Portfolio Management
  1. Risk mitigation & decision support
  • Translate model outcomes into clear risk insights and pragmatic actions
  • Support portfolio managers in identifying and mitigating exposures
  1. Cross-team collaboration
  • Act as a bridge between modelling (SPM) and execution (Portfolio Management)
  • Ensure models are actionable and aligned with trading reality
  1. Continuous improvement
  • Improve tools, data quality, and modelling approaches
  • Contribute to standardisation and automation of risk reporting

This is where you’ll work

You will join the Portfolio Optimization team within Eneco Energy Trade, a close-knit group of five other portfolio managers. Together, the team is responsible for optimizing financial performance while actively managing long-term risks. By balancing commercial results with strategic decision-making, the team plays a key role in supporting Eneco’s contribution to the energy transition.
