  • Create measurable impact on trading performance

  • Build scalable digital trading capabilities

Why choose Eneco?

At Eneco, you will work at the heart of the energy transition, in one of the most dynamic and competitive areas of the energy market: trading.

Eneco has approved an ambitious growth plan for its trading activities. Delivering this plan requires a step-change in analytical capability: from traditional market analysis towards scalable trading strategies, signals and execution engines that create sustainable trading edge.

As Head of Trade Analysis, you will build and lead the front-office analytics capability behind this transformation. You will directly influence trading performance, capital allocation, risk-return steering and the digital future of Eneco’s trading organization.

This is a rare opportunity to combine quantitative expertise, trading impact, digital transformation and senior leadership in a role with clear strategic relevance and measurable value creation.

What you’ll do

As Head of Trade Analysis, you are responsible for building, leading and scaling Eneco’s trading analytics capability within Asset Backed Trading.

You define and execute the analytics strategy and translate trading strategies into scalable engines, including fundamental market models, option models, algorithmic strategies and automated execution support. You manage the full lifecycle from idea generation, R&D and proof of concept to production, monitoring and scaling.

You report to the Program Director Trade Growth and work closely with Trading, Risk, Tech, Finance and external partners. You are accountable for the analytics roadmap, digital investment prioritization, delivery discipline and measurable value realization.

This is not a conventional analytics management role. You are expected to act as a digital entrepreneur: commercially sharp, quantitatively strong and able to create structure, pace and accountability in a growing front-office domain.

Is this about you?

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Quantitative Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science or a related field;
  • Deep expertise in quantitative modelling, trading analytics and model-driven decision-making;
  • Strong understanding of energy markets, commodities, derivatives, options and algorithmic trading;
  • Proven experience in a front-office trading environment, ideally in energy, commodities, market making, proprietary trading or a comparable quantitative trading context;
  • Demonstrated ability to turn quantitative research into production-grade trading tools, signals, strategies or execution engines;
  • Proven track record in building scalable analytics capabilities from concept to production;
  • Strong commercial judgement and ability to prioritize analytical work based on expected value;
  • Experience with ROI steering, benefit tracking and investment governance;
  • Strong judgement in balancing innovation speed, model robustness, operational control and P&L accountability;
  • Strong leadership experience managing highly skilled quantitative, analytical or technical teams;
  • Ability to operate at both strategic and technical level;
  • Ability to create structure, direction and momentum in a growing and transforming organization.

You’ll be responsible for

Build a best-in-class trading analytics organization that converts market insight, quantitative models and automation into measurable P&L impact and scalable trading performance.

  • Define and execute the trading analytics vision and strategy;
  • Build and scale a front-office analytics capability across multiple trading domains;
  • Translate trading strategies into scalable analytics engines, including market models, option engines and algorithmic trading solutions;
  • Establish clear prioritization, model lifecycle management, production monitoring and value attribution;
  • Manage a portfolio of analytics initiatives across R&D, PoC, pilot and full-scale deployment;
  • Secure and manage funding through evidence-based business cases and active ROI steering;
  • Deliver agreed investment outcomes and contribute to significant model- and engine-based P&L impact;
  • Build performance transparency across traders, strategies and analytical initiatives;
  • Support evidence-based capital allocation and future mandate expansion through robust performance and risk-return insights;
  • Design and enforce risk mitigation, including make/buy decisions, fail-safes, fallbacks and monitoring standards;
  • Establish strong analytics development, deployment, data governance and control processes;
  • Lead and develop a specialized analytics team of approximately 20 FTE across multiple domains;
  • Drive recruitment, coaching, development and performance management of the team;
  • Act as senior counterpart to Trading, Risk, Tech, Finance and external partners;
  • Ensure analytics investments are commercially relevant, technically robust and operationally governable.

This is where you’ll work

You will lead a specialized Trade Analysis organization of approximately 20 FTE, structured across multiple analytical domains. The team consists of desk analysts, quantitative analysts and quant developers focused on trading strategies, fundamental market models, option models, algorithmic platforms and execution support.
The team works directly with trading desks and plays a central role in creating scalable trading edge. Trade Analysis contributes not only high-quality analysis, but also measurable trading impact through model-based decision support, automated execution and performance transparency.
You will work closely with Trading, Risk Management, Tech, Finance and external partners to ensure that analytical capabilities are fully embedded in trading operations, governance and investment decision-making.
