Why choose Eneco?

At Eneco, you’ll work on one of the biggest challenges of our time: accelerating the energy transition. Our ambition is to become climate neutral by 2035, with Eneco Energy Trade playing a critical role in realizing this.

In this role, you operate at the heart of Eneco's trading activities, where operational reliability, digitalization, automation and real-time decision-making directly impact business performance and value creation. You will be responsible for the operational execution of Eneco's Virtual Power Plant and broader Trade Operations landscape, ensuring that customers, assets and markets remain connected and perform every day.

This role combines operational leadership, stakeholder management, digital transformation and strategic vision. One moment you are leading the resolution of a critical operational incident, the next you are shaping the future operating model of Trade Operations. You ensure today's operation performs flawlessly while continuously building the digital, scalable and future-proof operation of tomorrow.

What you’ll do

You will be part of Eneco's Trade department, operating in a dynamic trading environment and contributing directly to the delivery of Eneco's strategic ambitions and the One Planet Plan.

As Head of Operations, you are accountable for the operational continuity and performance of Eneco Energy Trade. You lead a team of approximately 35 professionals across Dispatching, Account Support & Settlement, Backoffice and Data Management, ensuring reliable execution of mission-critical, business-critical and financial operational processes. You safeguard operational performance, manage operational risks and ensure incidents are addressed effectively, while continuously identifying opportunities for improvement.

You are responsible for the operational execution of Eneco's Virtual Power Plant and trading operations landscape. Together with your teams, you ensure energy positions are nominated correctly, settlements are completed accurately, trades are processed flawlessly and market obligations are fulfilled in a compliant manner. Operational readiness, service reliability and process quality are key priorities.

Operational Excellence is a core pillar of the role. You drive continuous improvement through standardization, optimization, automation and digitalization. You actively explore and implement technologies such as AI, advanced analytics and Robotic Process Automation to improve efficiency, quality and scalability across the operational value chain.

You develop and communicate a clear long-term vision for Trade Operations and translate that vision into tangible improvements. You balance immediate operational priorities with strategic transformation initiatives, ensuring the organization is equipped for future growth and increasing market complexity.

Stakeholder management is critical to success. You work closely with Trading, Commercial, Asset Operations, Finance, Risk, Tech and external parties such as TSOs, DSOs and IT service providers. You are able to build alignment across competing priorities, act as a senior sparring partner and ensure decisions are translated into effective operational execution

Is this about you?

  • You have a Master's degree and at least 10 years of relevant experience in Operations, Energy, Trading, Technology or another complex operational environment
  • You have proven leadership experience managing professionals, team leads and multidisciplinary teams in a high-performance environment
  • Mission-critical operations are in your DNA. You remain effective under pressure, are decisive during incidents and know how to balance short-term delivery with long-term improvements
  • You take ownership, are decisive, and can prioritize effectively under pressure while balancing short-term and long-term objectives
  • You have a strong track record in Operational Excellence, process optimization, automation, digital transformation and organizational development
  • You are a strong stakeholder manager, capable of creating alignment and driving results across business, technology and external partner networks
  • You are able to operate at strategic, tactical, and operational levels, and effectively connect technical and business stakeholders
  • You have strong analytical skills and can translate complex topics into practical, scalable solutions

Please note, it is important for this position that you have good command, both written and spoken, of the Dutch language.
