Why choose Eneco?

At Eneco, you’ll work on one of the biggest challenges of our time: accelerating the energy transition. Our ambition is to become climate neutral by 2035, with Energy Trading & Integration playing a critical role in realizing this.

In this role, you will operate at the heart of one of Europe’s most advanced trading environments, where digitalization, automation, and real-time decision-making drive performance. You will contribute to building a scalable Virtual Power Plant (VPP) platform and next-generation trading capabilities, directly impacting Eneco’s market position and value creation. This role combines strategy, trading operations, IT transformation, and leadership at scale, with clear societal impact

What you’ll do

You will be part of Eneco’s Trade department, operating in a dynamic trading environment and contributing directly to the delivery of Eneco’s strategic ambitions and the One Planet Plan.

As Head of Analytics & Realization, you are responsible for driving the realization of strategic change within Eneco Trade and for further developing data-driven capabilities across Trade Operations & IT. You ensure that new assets, products, and market developments are effectively and in a controlled way integrated into the Trade and Virtual Power Plant (VPP) landscape.

You own the end-to-end delivery of change, from onboarding new battery storage (BESS) and renewable assets to implementing regulatory and market-driven changes. You ensure initiatives are delivered on time and with the right quality, act as gatekeeper for operational readiness, and safeguard that operational requirements are embedded early in commercial negotiations.

Data analytics is a core pillar of this role. You lead the further development of a high-impact analytics and data science capability that translates complex operational and trading data into actionable insights. This includes building and scaling monitoring, reporting, and performance steering frameworks, developing dashboards together with Operations, and delivering analytical and optimisation models across a broad range of asset types. You ensure that data, models, and analytical outputs directly support asset optimisation, real-time decision-making, and performance improvement across the value chain.

You play a central role in connecting business and technology. You structure and prioritize demand from trading, commercial teams, asset management, and operations, translating this into clear deliverables for IT and development teams. You drive prioritization and balance short-term operational needs with longer-term strategic priorities, aligned with the operating model based on Value Chains and Tech.

You are accountable for the performance and continuous improvement of the Virtual Power Plant and wider Trade IT landscape. You drive reliability, efficiency, and scalability, and initiate improvements in automation and standardization, enabling a more data-driven and predictable operation.

In addition, you play a key role in major transformation initiatives within Trade Operations & IT, including the phase-out of legacy platforms and improvements in data quality, transparency, and automation across the financial value chain, supporting the settlement domain and the FinOps program.

You lead a team of approximately 20 professionals. You build a high-performing, future-proof team with a strong focus on scalability, digital capabilities, and continuous improvement, ensuring the team is focused on the right priorities at the right time.

Collaboration is critical to success. You work closely with trading desks, 24/7 operations, Tech, commercial teams, business development, and external partners, acting as a senior sparring partner and ensuring alignment, clear prioritization, and disciplined execution.

Is this about you?

  • You have a Master’s degree in a technical, analytical, or operational field and at least 10 years of relevant experience in operations, energy markets, and/or technology-driven environments;
  • You have a strong continuous improvement mindset and are able to adapt quickly in a dynamic trading environment. You have experience in developing an Operational Excellence culture in teams;
  • You have proven experience in managing teams and a strong focus on people development and capability building;
  • You are able to operate at strategic, tactical, and operational levels, and effectively connect technical and business stakeholders;
  • You have strong analytical skills and can translate complex topics into practical, scalable solutions;
  • You have proven experience in building and leading analytics capabilities in a complex, data-rich environment, including delivering deep-dive analyses, developing dashboards/monitoring, and translating data into business impact;
  • You have strong communication and stakeholder management skills and can align across domains in a complex environment;
  • You take ownership, are decisive, and are able to prioritize effectively under pressure while balancing short-term and long-term objectives.

You’ll be responsible for

  • End-to-end realization across the Trade value chain, translating commercial deals and strategic initiatives into operational execution, delivered on time, within scope and budget, with clear business impact;
  • Team leadership and capability build, leading a team of ~20 professionals and developing a scalable, digitally skilled, and future-proof organization;
  • Operational excellence and continuous improvement, driving standardization, automation, and performance improvements across Trade Operations;
  • Analytics, data engineering and VPP capability development, ensuring data, models, and optimization translate into improved decision-making and performance;
  • Cross-domain alignment and prioritization, driving decision-making across the change and analytics portfolio and ensuring alignment between Operations, Tech and Commercial domains.
