Senior Trade Settlement Specialist

As a Senior Trade Settlement Specialist, you will work on the most complex operational processes within the settlement domain. You will take ownership of improvement initiatives, share your expertise and help colleagues grow.

A major part of your work will involve designing and running settlement models and then making them scalable through automation. You will combine data from different sources, build validation rules and apply calculations to support accurate invoicing. Automation experience is particularly important because this capability will strengthen the current team.

You will also work with Sales and other stakeholders to design settlements for new assets and contracts. As the expert behind the data and calculation rules, you can clearly explain the outcome to internal stakeholders and customers.

• You have bachelor’s or master’s level working and thinking skills, gained through education or relevant professional experience;
• You have at least five years of relevant experience in financial operations, settlements, invoicing, energy trading or a comparable back-office environment;
• You have experience automating complex financial or operational processes;
• You are comfortable working with data, databases, tables and analytical tools such as Databricks;
• You communicate clearly in English, while Dutch is an advantage;
• You take ownership, set priorities and constructively challenge colleagues and stakeholders when needed;
• You enjoy sharing knowledge, coaching colleagues and contributing to their development;
• You are currently living in the Netherlands.

Experience in the energy sector is valuable, but not essential. Relevant senior-level experience in automating financial processes in another industry can also provide a strong foundation for this role.

• Ensuring the accurate and timely settlement of complex energy flows;
• Designing settlement models and translating contractual agreements into clear calculation rules;
• Automating complex settlements using data, AI and Databricks;
• Identifying data-quality issues and building dashboards, data validations and control mechanisms;
• Contributing to projects for new assets and contract types together with Sales and other stakeholders;
• Explaining settlement outcomes, data and calculation methods to customers and internal stakeholders;
• Coaching colleagues and promoting ownership, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement within the team.The role covers settlements for internal and external assets, including batteries, solar farms and wind farms. Customer questions may concern the underlying data or calculation methods, so you must be able to explain and support the models you have developed.

You will join the Account Support & Settlements team within Eneco Energy Trade. The team is responsible for the operational processing of complex energy transactions and is working to replace manual settlement activities with reliable, scalable and data-driven solutions.

You will work with experienced colleagues who understand the settlement process in detail. Your automation expertise will complement their knowledge and help the team create more time for innovation and further improvement. You will also collaborate with Sales and other teams involved in developing new energy products, assets and customer contracts.
