Why choose Eneco?

The energy transition is in full motion and Eneco is helping to lead it. Our ambition? That goes for our operations and the energy we deliver to millions of customers. From building wind and solar parks to innovating in energy trading. We're investing in real impact and scaling that impact across Europe.

What you’ll do

As a Quantitative Developer, you will become part of Eneco’s Intraday Trading department. The team trades various European intraday power markets, both automated and manually, with a strong ambition to further scale automated execution and trade automation.

In this role, you will work closely with intraday traders, analysts, and IT teams to design and operate Eneco’s algorithmic trading landscape. You will translate trading ideas and operational requirements into robust, production-ready trading applications, and take ownership of their stability, performance, and execution quality. Through this, you will actively improve end-to-end trade automation workflows in a live intraday trading environment.

This position offers a unique opportunity to sit at the intersection of trading, quantitative development, and production-grade systems, and to shape how Eneco automates and optimizes its intraday trading activities.

Is this about you?

  • At least 5+ years of hands-on development experience with algorithmic trading systems;

  • A solid understanding of financial markets, preferably within energy commodity trading or other short-term trading environments;

  • Strong software engineering skills in Python, building and operating robust algorithmic trading platforms, data pipelines, and analytics systems with production-grade design, testing, and monitoring;

  • Familiarity with algorithmic trading workflows, including execution logic, model validation, and post-trade analysis;

  • A proactive and independent working style, your approach is analytical but also hands-on and pragmatic, combined with a collaborative mindset and strong communication skills.

You’ll be responsible for

  • Leading the development and technical optimization of our trading platform, configuring the SaaS solution and building the necessary integrations to fill any gaps;

  • Monitoring and managing the daily performance of automated trading, working directly with traders to troubleshoot issues and guarantee high-quality execution in live markets;

  • Building and refining trading workflows and algorithms, proactively adapting our technical setup to meet changing business and market needs;

  • Implementing and maintaining standards for testing and documentation, taking an active role in keeping the platform reliable, easy to support, and compliant with all trading regulations.

This is where you’ll work

You will work within the Intraday Trading team as part of the value chain Trading & Structuring, right next to Rotterdam-Alexander station. A complex, dynamic environment where moving markets, ever-changing positions and new technologies create a challenging trading environment which requires a lot of initiative and insight.

We interact quickly with each other in an informal, transparent and collegial atmosphere. In a rapidly changing energy landscape, you and your team will shape the energy transition. A tough job, with challenging but achievable targets.
