Why choose Eneco?

At Eneco, we are accelerating the energy transition through our One Planet Plan, with the ambition to become climate neutral by 2035. As energy markets become more volatile and complex, reliable automation becomes critical to the way we trade energy products for our own account and for our customers. As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer, you will help build and operate the platform foundations behind our automated trading capabilities. Your work directly supports secure, reliable, and scalable trading operations in a production environment where availability, observability, and operational control are essential.

What you’ll do

You will design, operate, and continuously improve the cloud-based infrastructure that supports Eneco’s automated trading platform. The role focuses on reliable integration between execution environments, external market data providers, execution venues, and internal monitoring systems. This is a senior platform reliability role with strong SRE and DevOps responsibilities. You will own the stability, availability, automation, and governance of live trading systems.

Is this about you?

Must have

  • Strong experience operating cloud-based production systems, preferably on Azure.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud networking and environment isolation, such as VNets, private connectivity, access controls, and segmented environments.
  • Experience running distributed compute or data platforms in production, such as Databricks or equivalent technologies.
  • Solid background in site reliability engineering, DevOps, or platform operations.
  • Experience operating containerized services in production environments.
  • Infrastructure as code experience, preferably with Terraform.
  • Strong understanding of monitoring, incident response, automation, security, and operational governance.
  • Strong ownership mindset with the ability to operate mission-critical systems reliably.

 Nice to have

  • Experience in trading, financial systems, energy markets, or other mission-critical production environments.
  • Experience integrating external APIs, market data feeds, or execution venues.
  • Familiarity with SLAs/SLOs, error budgets, and modern SRE practices.
  • Experience with secrets management, credential rotation, private networking, and audit controls.

You’ll be responsible for

Platform & Environment Management

  • Design and operate platform environments across development, testing, and production.
  • Implement infrastructure as code to create reproducible, auditable, and controlled environments.
  • Enforce strong environment isolation between strategy development, testing, and live trading.
  • Manage multiple execution environments, including distributed compute platforms and containerized services.

External Integration & Connectivity

  • Integrate external market data feeds and execution APIs used by the trading platform.
  • Design secure authentication, secrets management, and credential rotation.
  • Enable automated deployment and execution of strategies in controlled environments.
  • Ensure reliable inbound and outbound data and execution flows between internal and external systems.

Reliability, Observability & Incident Response

  • Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability across the trading platform.
  • Define and operate SLAs and SLOs for strategy execution, platform availability, and data availability.
  • Lead incident response, escalation, and post-incident root cause analysis.
  • Support investigation and resolution of production trading disruptions.

Automation, Governance & Security

  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for platform and execution environment changes.
  • Enforce governance around compute usage, configuration, access, and deployment controls.
  • Monitor cost, capacity, and resource utilization across the platform.
  • Apply security, auditability, and least-privilege principles throughout the trading platform.

This is where you’ll work

You’ll join a highly technical trading and platform engineering environment focused on building reliable automated trading capabilities for the future energy market. The team works closely with traders, quantitative researchers, machine learning engineers, data engineers, and platform specialists. The environment is fast-moving and business-critical, with a strong focus on reliability, secure execution, operational excellence, and clear ownership.
