Why choose Eneco?

Eneco is at the forefront of the energy transition — integrating renewable generation, flexible assets, and new ways of balancing supply and demand. As energy markets become more volatile and interconnected, the need for smart risk management, automated trading, and data-driven decision-making only grows.

Our Energy Trading function sits at the heart of this: managing market exposure, optimising asset portfolios, and ensuring we can trade reliably across power, gas, and certificate markets. The systems and processes behind this — our ETRM landscape — need to keep pace with rapid trade growth, increasing automation, and evolving European regulation.

As Senior Product Manager Energy Trading, you’ll take strategic ownership of the products and platforms that power Eneco’s trading operations. This is a role for someone who combines deep domain understanding with the drive and rigour of a Technical Program Manager, someone who can reshape a complex vendor-driven landscape, turn around delivery effectiveness, and ensure our trading infrastructure supports the next phase of growth.

What you’ll do

  • Own the trade lifecycle end-to-end: Take full product ownership of trade capture, confirmation, settlement, and position management. Ensure systems accurately reflect how traders actually work — not just how vendors designed them. When a trading position is wrong on a live trading day, or settlement figures don’t reconcile at month-end, you’re in the room. ETRM failures have direct P&L consequences, and you treat that with the urgency it demands.
  • Drive market connectivity: Own the integration product surface for exchanges, TSOs, brokers, and price curve providers. Define what data comes in, how it’s validated, and how it flows downstream into settlement and reporting.
  • Manage regulatory and compliance features: REMIT, EMIR, and MiFID II generate ongoing product obligations. You ensure these are treated as first-class requirements — not afterthoughts — and maintain a compliance roadmap in sync with European regulatory calendars.
  • Run the vendor relationship: Our core trading platforms are vendor products; you will work primarily with remote vendor teams. You drive roadmap alignment, change request prioritization, upgrade planning, and know when to extend versus when to build. You have a track record of driving performance and impact with external vendors and are comfortable working with remote teams.
  • Shape the roadmap for growth: Strategically reshape the trading domain to support trade volume growth, auto trading expansion, and product innovation. Phase out legacy where it holds us back. Oversee and coordinate quarterly planning across the portfolio.

Is this about you?

You’re a high-energy, extreme-ownership Senior Product Manager who doesn’t just manage — you drive. You combine strategic thinking with operational grip, and you’re at your best when the stakes are high and the domain is complex. You bring structure to ambiguity, hold vendors to account, and earn the trust of traders and engineers alike.

  • 7+ years of experience in product management, technical program management, or a consulting/delivery hybrid, with a strong track record in complex, vendor-driven technology environments.
  • Ability to quickly build understanding of energy trading processes: trade capture, position management, settlement, and market connectivity.
  • Proven ability to manage large vendor-driven initiatives: roadmap negotiation, change request prioritisation, upgrade planning, and holding vendors accountable for delivery and quality. Fully capable to manage steerco driven initiatives.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills: you can align Trading, Risk, Finance, and Engineering leadership around shared priorities.
  • Comfortable with incident ownership, you stay calm under pressure when trading operations are at stake.
  • Experience working with remote and distributed teams.
  • Energy sector experience is a strong plus, but not a requirement if you bring the right blend of domain curiosity and delivery rigour.

You’ll be responsible for

  • Trade lifecycle excellence — Ensuring the ETRM landscape reliably supports trade capture through to settlement, with systems that reflect real trading workflows and deliver accurate positions.
  • Vendor & delivery effectiveness — Turning around the overall quality and pace of vendor-driven delivery. You own the relationship, the roadmap alignment, and the escalation path when things aren’t working.
  • Regulatory readiness — Maintaining a compliance roadmap that keeps Eneco ahead of obligations — built into the product backlog, not bolted on.
  • Legacy transformation — Identifying and executing the phase-out of legacy systems and processes that limit trading growth and operational resilience.
  • Portfolio coordination — Overseeing quarterly planning and cross-team alignment to ensure trading technology investments deliver strategic value.

This is where you’ll work

You’ll be part of Eneco’s Tech & Digital organization, working cross-functionally with Trading, Risk, Settlement, and Engineering teams to deliver scalable, reliable solutions that directly impact Eneco’s market position. Join Eneco’s digital organisation, based in Rotterdam, where collaboration and innovation drive the energy transition. Work in an environment that values your expertise and makes a direct impact on Eneco’s mission to become climate neutral.
