  • You are the go-to expert for the SCADA platforms that monitor and control our energy production, storage, trading and flexibility assets.

  • You shape how the platform develops, from architecture choices and engineering standards to coaching other engineers.

  • Your work keeps renewable energy and battery storage reliable and connected, which helps us move towards a climate-neutral energy system.

Why choose Eneco?

At Eneco we work towards one clear goal: being climate-neutral by 2035. Renewable energy and batteries only help us get there if we can see and steer them reliably, in real time. That is what our SCADA platforms make possible.

In this role, you keep those mission-critical systems secure and stable while connecting new assets to them. You also work closely with engineers, OT specialists and business colleagues, share your knowledge, and help others grow.

What you’ll do

  • You design, build, configure and maintain SCADA solutions for energy production and flexibility assets.
  • You connect SCADA to automatic generation control (AGC), which adjusts output to match grid needs, and to energy management and distributed energy (EMS and DERMS) platforms.
  • You build and maintain links with battery storage systems, field devices, grid operators and market interfaces.
  • You define and improve interfaces with trading platforms, asset management systems, OT environments and data platforms.
  • You lead design reviews and technical assessments, and you coach fellow SCADA engineers.
  • You investigate major and recurring incidents, find the root cause and make sure the fix lasts.
  • You work with suppliers and internal teams on implementations, upgrades and migrations.
  • You join the on-call rotation, so our critical systems have support when they need it.

Is this about you?

  • You have 7+ years of SCADA engineering experience, including large-scale implementations and integrations.
  • You have worked with business-critical systems in energy, utilities, grid operations or industrial automation.
  • You know HMI systems, RTUs, PLCs and telemetry, and you understand how real-time monitoring and control work in practice.
  • You have experience with protocols such as OPC UA, IEC 60870-5-104, IEC 61850, Modbus or MQTT, and with integrating systems through REST APIs and messaging.
  • You understand grid operations and energy systems such as AGC, EMS, DERMS or battery storage. You don't need hands-on experience with all of them.
  • You are comfortable with Windows Server, Linux, networking basics and high-availability architectures. Experience with cloud or hybrid environments is a plus.
  • You have a bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, energy systems, industrial automation, computer science or a similar field.
  • You stay calm during incidents, explain technical choices clearly and enjoy helping colleagues learn.
  • Recognise yourself in most of this, but not every requirement? We'd still love to hear from you.

You’ll be responsible for

  • SCADA platforms that are available, reliable, secure and ready to scale.
  • The full lifecycle of SCADA applications, interfaces and infrastructure.
  • Successful integration of new assets and systems.
  • Engineering standards, design guidelines and best practices for the SCADA domain.
  • Clear monitoring, alerting and observability requirements, and fewer operational incidents over time.
  • Meeting OT security standards and Eneco policies, including support for audits, risk assessments and fixing vulnerabilities.

This is where you’ll work

You work in the middle of Eneco's energy operations, together with SCADA engineers, OT specialists, product teams, business colleagues and external suppliers. You guide technical decisions across the SCADA domain and work closely with others to get them right. Your colleagues rely on your expertise, and you help them build their own.
