We are looking for a Product Manager VPP Asset Optimization to help scale and enhance the systems at the core of this operation.
In this role, you will own critical optimization products that directly impact operational performance, customer value, and market outcomes. You will work closely with traders, engineers, optimization specialists, and operations teams to deliver high-impact solutions in a technically complex and fast-moving environment.

What you’ll do

As Product Manager VPP Asset Optimization, you will own and develop a portfolio of mission-critical optimization products. Your goal is to maximize the value of Eneco’s flexible asset portfolio across the Netherlands, Germany, and Belgium.
You will:
  • Define and drive the product strategy, roadmap, and priorities for your product portfolio.
  • Lead product discovery initiatives to identify opportunities and validate solutions with users and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with traders, operations teams, engineers, and optimization specialists to translate business needs into scalable product solutions.
  • Make clear and well-balanced prioritization decisions across competing stakeholder interests.
  • Balance commercial value, operational reliability, technical complexity, and engineering capacity.
  • Drive the successful delivery of strategic initiatives while safeguarding platform stability.
  • Monitor product performance through OKRs, KPIs, and operational metrics.
  • Manage stakeholder communication and provide transparency around product decisions and trade-offs.
  • Shape the future of Eneco’s Virtual Power Plant and Asset Optimization capabilities.

Is this about you?

You are an experienced Product Manager who thrives in a technical and complex environment.
You combine strong product thinking with a pragmatic approach and feel comfortable working where technology, optimization, and business value converge.
You bring:
  • 5+ years of Product Management experience leading a product, platform, or product domain.
  • Proven experience in product strategy, roadmap development, discovery, and delivery.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills within complex organizations.
  • Excellent prioritization capabilities and the confidence to make difficult trade-offs.
  • Experience working closely with Agile engineering teams.
  • A solid technical foundation and a genuine curiosity about how systems work.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Experience influencing outcomes without direct authority.
  • A data-driven mindset and strong sense of ownership.

You’ll be responsible for

  • Defining and executing the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for the VPP Asset Optimization domain.Prioritizing opportunities across multiple optimization products and initiatives.
  • Building strong stakeholder relationships across Trading, Operations, Engineering, and Leadership.Creating clarity and direction in a highly complex environment.
  • Driving product discovery and validating opportunities through data-driven insights.
  • Ensuring successful delivery of roadmap commitments.Measuring business impact and continuously improving product outcomes.
  • Taking end-to-end ownership of your products and the value they deliver.

This is where you’ll work

You will join Eneco’s Virtual Power Plant (VPP) organization, the team responsible for optimizing a rapidly growing portfolio of flexible energy assets across the Netherlands, Germany, and Belgium. Together with product managers, software engineers, traders, optimization specialists, and operations teams, you will develop the capabilities that enable Eneco to maximize the value of renewable energy and flexibility in the market.
 
The environment is highly collaborative and international. You will work with colleagues who combine deep expertise in energy markets, technology, optimization, and operations. While each team has its own area of expertise, success depends on close cooperation and shared ownership of outcomes.

What we have to offer

Gross annual salary between €85,000 and €100,000

Including FlexBudget, 8% holiday allowance, and depending on your role a bonus or collective profit sharing.

Hybrid working: home, office or abroad

Work 40% at the office, 40% from home, and 20% flexibly. With manager approval, you may work abroad (within approved countries) up to 3 weeks/year, max 2 consecutively.
