  • You keep the network backbone behind Eneco's wind farms, solar parks, batteries and heat installations running around the clock.

  • You work end-to-end: from the first design conversation through commissioning to live troubleshooting.

  • Your work directly supports the assets that drive the energy transition, in a mission-critical landscape where reliability comes first.

Why choose Eneco?

At Eneco we work towards one clear goal: being fully climate-neutral, for ourselves and our customers, by 2035. Reaching that goal depends on production assets that stay securely connected and available every hour of the day. Within our Tech organization, the Operational Technology (OT) domain keeps the network behind those assets running. Wind, solar, battery storage and heat all rely on it. As OT Network Engineer you make sure that foundation is secure, resilient and ready for what comes next, working in a team where availability and safety are taken seriously and people support each other to get it right.

What you’ll do

  • You design, build and operate the OT networks behind production assets like wind farms, solar parks, battery energy storage systems (BESS) and heat installations.
  • You handle both new sites (greenfield) and existing environments (brownfield), from design through implementation and commissioning.
  • You set up secure, resilient site connectivity, including network segmentation and clear separation between IT and OT.
  • You troubleshoot live network and connectivity issues, taking ownership from first analysis to full resolution.
  • You work across SCADA and PLC systems and OT network protocols such as IEC 60870-5-104, OPC-UA and Modbus, applying security standards like IEC 62443 and ISO 27001.

Is this about you?

  • You are an experienced network engineer who understands that OT environments work differently. Here, availability, safety and predictability come before convenience, and changes are carefully designed and reviewed before they go live. You take ownership, work pragmatically, and you bring:
  • At least 5 years of experience in a similar network engineering role.
  • A bachelor's degree in computer engineering or a related field.
  • Solid expertise in network segmentation, routing, switching, firewalls and VPN technologies.
  • A good understanding of security concepts and frameworks like ISO 27001 and IEC 62443.
  • Hands-on experience with OT environments, including SCADA and PLC systems, and familiarity with OT protocols such as IEC 60870-5-104, OPC-UA and Modbus.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with internal teams, vendors and integrators.
  • A willingness to join the 24/7 on-call rotation.
  • A base in the Netherlands and fluent English.
  • Experience in renewable energy is a welcome plus, but not a must. Recognise yourself in most of this, but not every requirement? We'd still love to hear from you.

You’ll be responsible for

  • Designing and implementing OT network solutions for new and existing production assets, in both greenfield and brownfield settings.
  • Secure, resilient site connectivity, including segmentation, IT/OT separation and provider-agnostic access.
  • Day-to-day availability and reliability of Eneco's OT network landscape.
  • Owning incidents from a network perspective: analysis, resolution, escalation and clear communication until the issue is fully solved.
  • Structural improvements, standards and lifecycle management of the OT network.

This is where you’ll work

You join Eneco's Operational Technology domain within the Tech organization, based at our Rotterdam HQ in a hybrid setup. You work closely with colleagues across asset development, operations, architecture and security, as well as with external partners and vendors. Together you keep a secure, reliable and scalable OT landscape running, so the energy transition can move forward across every production asset.
