What you’ll do

As a Data Scientist with a GenAI focus, you will: 

  • Partner with the Product Manager and product team (including Data Engineers, Backend Engineers, Data Analysts, App Developers, and Front-End Developers) to implement and evolve a conversational AI assistant for Eneco’s consumer channels 

  • Guide the team in defining requirements for new features and measuring effectiveness and accuracy of GenAI solutions 

  • Expand the AI assistant’s capabilities, bringing new functionality to enhance customer interactions 

  • Lead the professionalization and productization of GenAI systems, providing expert recommendations and adapting to changing priorities as the GenAI journey evolves 

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to balance commercial requirements with engineering best practices 

  • Apply a pragmatic, iterative approach to data science, quickly demonstrating value through prototypes, pilots, and working products

You combine technical expertise with strong communication skills and a commercial mindset. 

You bring: 

  • MSc in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) 

  • 4+ years of experience as a Data Scientist in a company setting 

  • Experience implementing GenAI chatbots or conversational AI systems 

  • Strong programming skills in Python and SQL; experience with Azure, MLFlow, AirFlow, and Databricks is a plus 

  • Knowledge of data science techniques, NLP, and statistical methods 

  • Experience in data engineering, building metric pipelines, and integrating data from diverse sources 

  • Ability to independently drive projects and mentor junior colleagues 

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English  

  • Dutch language skills are a strong plus  

  • A curious mindset and interest in the energy domain 

You’ll be responsible for

  • Identifying and scoping impactful data science projects within the product team 

  • Building and maintaining reliable metric pipelines, including alerting, drift tracking, and reliability monitoring 

  • Creating GenAI evaluation frameworks and measuring the effectiveness of conversational AI features 

  • Sharing knowledge and fostering a culture of continuous learning and development within the team 

  • Acting as a key partner to the Product Manager, influencing the roadmap and strategy for AI-driven customer communication 

  • Ensuring the performance of ML/statistical models in production settings 

What we have to offer

Gross annual salary between €85.000 and €120.000

Hybrid working: home, office or abroad

Work 40% at the office, 40% from home, and 20% flexibly. With manager approval, you may work abroad (within approved countries) up to 3 weeks/year, max 2 consecutively.
