Why IT risk matters: buket on purposeful work at Eneco

For Buket, working in IT Risk and Security Risk & Compliance is all about making real impact - the kind that strengthens Eneco’s systems, supports sustainable operations, and contributes to the daily lives of millions of people. She shares how she transforms complex regulations into practical controls and why the energy sector has become such a meaningful place for her to work.

A purpose found in the energy sector

Buket didn’t initially plan to work in the energy industry, but that changed as she discovered what truly motivates her. As she explains:

“Over time, I realized I wanted to be in a sector where the work has a direct impact on people’s daily lives. Energy plays such a fundamental role in society, and the shift toward more sustainable and resilient solutions makes it a really meaningful space to be part of.”

That sense of purpose is now an essential driver in her work at Eneco, where she contributes directly to building a secure and resilient digital foundation for the energy transition.

Turning regulation into practical, workable controls

In her role, she focuses on IT Risk and Security Risk & Compliance, with a strong emphasis on JSOX. Her work is anchored in one central idea: translating regulatory requirements into solutions that actually work in practice.

“A big part of what I do is turning regulatory expectations into practical, workable controls. That often means challenging existing processes, identifying gaps, and collaborating closely with stakeholders to strengthen how we manage technology risks.”

She brings structure and clarity to complex environments - something especially valuable in large, interconnected systems. It’s about creating controls that are realistic, reliable, and supportive of business continuity.

Building sustainable controls across systems

One of her current projects involves implementing JSOX controls across multiple systems. She works side by side with system owners to identify risks, design the right controls, and embed them in daily operations.

For Buket, sustainability is key: the goal is not simply meeting regulatory expectations once, but building a long-term foundation that strengthens Eneco’s resilience.

Her approach ensures that every step of the process adds clarity and stability - two elements that are essential for an organization navigating ongoing digital and regulatory change.

Clarity, collaboration, and real ownership

The dynamic nature of her work is one of the things she values most. She enjoys taking ownership and influencing how risks and controls are shaped within the organization.

That ownership comes with close collaboration across teams, cultures, and disciplines - something she sees as a major strength. The diversity of expertise not only enriches the work but also ensures stronger, more balanced outcomes.

Together, the IT Risk and Security teams create an environment where compliance and security reinforce each other. Strong controls, according to Buket, should enable the business rather than slow it down.

Impact that shows at the end of the day

What gives her satisfaction at the end of the day is simple: progress.
“It’s rewarding to see how these improvements strengthen the organization and contribute to a more secure, reliable way of working. That sense of impact is what makes the day feel worthwhile.”

Whether she closes a control gap, simplifies a process, or clarifies a complex area, she knows these steps collectively make Eneco more resilient.

Why Eneco is worth choosing

For anyone considering Eneco, Buket highlights the combination of purpose and a people-oriented culture. You’re contributing to the energy transition while working in an environment built on trust, responsibility, and personal growth.  It’s meaningful work - with real impact on both society and the organization - supported by colleagues, tools, and the freedom to drive improvements.
Working in IT Risk or Security at Eneco means shaping clarity, structure, and sustainable controls that support the company’s mission. If you’re looking for a role where complex challenges meet meaningful impact, Eneco offers the environment to make that difference.
