What you’ll do

As Engineering Manager, you will lead a diverse team of data engineers, machine learning engineers, software developers, and analysts. Your main responsibilities include building reliable, scalable data infrastructure and developing applications for energy trading. You’ll work closely with a product manager to set technical direction, mentor your team, and ensure high-quality, impactful solutions.

This role calls for strong skills in data and software engineering, system design, and cross-functional leadership. Experience in trading environments is a plus.

Is this about you?

  • Proven experience managing engineering teams, mentoring developers, and fostering a collaborative, high-performing environment.
  • Experience in software development, SRE and DevOps best practices, including CI/CD, testing, version control, incident management, technical debt management, refactoring, and migrations, with a strong awareness of security and compliance standards in domains with sensitive data.
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing infrastructure scopes, particularly in taking data, machine learning, and data science processes from concept to production, with a strong focus on reliability, cost optimization, system performance, and robust system design.
  • Strong understanding of data engineering principles, including ETL, data and information modeling, and pipeline orchestration. Experience with cloud infrastructure (Azure preferred), Databricks, Snowflake, DBT, and Kubernetes.
  • Ability to collaborate with stakeholders in energy trading, including traders, quants, analysts, and business owners.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with designing, building, or managing technical infrastructure and platforms for trading systems, ideally within commodities markets.
  • Knowledge of MLOps practices and model deployment pipelines.
  • Familiarity with processes and techniques in machine learning, data science, analytics, and algorithmic trading.

You’ll be responsible for

  • Leading and mentoring a team of data and machine learning engineers and developers, fostering an environment that emphasizes technical excellence, continuous improvement, and team well-being.
  • Partnering with product managers and stakeholders to align engineering with business needs, translate those needs into a clear technical strategy, and drive its implementation within the team.
  • Ensuring that all technical solutions are built to the highest standards of quality, reliability, security, maintainability, and efficiency, through strong engineering practices in code quality, observability, and architectural decision-making.
  • Contributing to the ongoing review and improvement of business processes and systems to enhance the effective use of technology.

You will be working alongside a Product Manager, Data Engineers, Machine Learning Engineers, Data Scientists, Data Analysts, as well as quants and traders. Together, your team will drive innovation in energy trading, supporting the transition to more sustainable energy sources while ensuring energy security and making the solutions economically viable. Gross annual salary between €95.000 and €145.000

Hybrid working: home, office or abroad

Work 40% at the office, 40% from home, and 20% flexibly. With manager approval, you may work abroad (within approved countries) up to 3 weeks/year, max 2 consecutively.
